Mission Statement
Our purpose for being
The mission of the Greater Boston Business Council is to foster and promote the vitality and productivity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) business and professional community in the greater Boston area, thereby contributing to the economic welfare of the general commonwealth of which we are a part. We seek to promote a positive image of the diversity of GLBT citizens and to strengthen our position in society, by providing opportunities and an environment for the personal, professional and social growth of our members and by networking with other GLBT professional organizations, both locally and nationally.
History
Where it all began
In 1990, 12 business people met in a living room to formalize an idea that they had been talking about for a couple of years—the need for a gay and lesbian business and professional group. They envisioned this group as representing all industries and professions. They also believed it should offer an array of venues to make the members comfortable.
